The Hildebrand Family
The Hildebrand family has served at Rift Valley Academy in Kijabe, Kenya for four years. Our primary role is to be dorm parents for 22 ninth grade boys. Bill also serves as a Bible teacher and head of the Bible department and Jennifer is the head librarian for the elementary.
After 26 years of youth ministry in the Kansas City area, God called our family to a boarding school in East Africa. We love serving at Rift Valley Academy because we are able to pour into the lives of students, especially the boys in our dorm at a time in their lives during which they are searching for what they believe. RVA is a continuation of our call to student ministry.
The first thing to know about our whole family, Jesus is not just a part of life, He IS our life! Jesus is our greatest joy. Our own children are our first priority.
- Braden loves leading worship or performing on stage, especially when he uses the acoustic guitar he made in Africa. He also loves playing rugby and soccer, and hanging out with friends. As a freshman at John Brown University, he is pursuing a degree in education and would love to be a worship leader.
- Preston loves playing basketball, soccer, and rugby (almost equally), and is an exceptional drummer. He is enjoying the start of his junior year here in the states, but can't wait to rejoin his friends and classmates at RVA.
- Landon is an eighth grader who loves playing board games, soccer, and rugby. He is just beginning to learn bass guitar. While all of us love our extended family , Landon especially loves his grandparents. This is the hardest part about living in Africa!
Trevon loves life. This fourth grader loves any and every sport, and has a sensitive and caring heart for those around him. His continual smile is contagious!
